Studio81 Recording was founded and designed by Richard Raposo in 2009. The facility is equipped with the most current analog and digital equipment for recording, mixing, mastering and the staff is ready to assist in creating and bringing your projects/compositions to completion. The studio is prepared to handle various projects from simple voiceovers to full blown productions including live bands.
The first reaction everyone has when they walk into Studio81 Recording is "Wow, it feels just like home!" The crew, AKA "The Guys" make sure they maintain a "homey" atmosphere at the studio, making it a very relaxing place to record.
The facility is designed with simplistic aesthetics using a combination of warm and cool colors. The sound isolation implemented gives you a sense of seclusion. These attributes combine to provide an avenue in which musicians can work peacefully without the distractions of the world. This is why everyone's reaction after working inside Studio81 is " Man, I feel like I can stay be here all day & night and never leave!" And because of that feeling that the studio gives, it has become one of the premier recording studios in the city of New Bedford, Massachusetts and its surrounding cities.
Studio81 is the home of D'NAJE Entertainment and its roster of artist.
Richard Raposo's interest in recording music began at a very young age, by working on original compositions, providing mobile recording services, and recording artists in his basement project studio.
Richard then formed a Portuguese band called "Faith" that started as a trio and at its largest state has had as many as a nine musicians. The band has always owned a P.A. system ranging from a basic 2-speaker setup to a full-blown flown line array system with concert lighting. Richard owned and was operating a 32 channel 8-bus mixer at the age of thirteen.
Richard's interested continued to expand and he was eager to increase his knowledge of music and technology. He attended the world famous Berklee College of Music in Boston, completing a dual major Bachelor's degree in Music Production and Engineering and Music Business with honors in 2004.
After graduating from Berklee, Richard continued to perform with his band, mix live shows for other bands, and record live shows and local artists. Richard has engineered various projects at Studio81 such audio books, solo acts and even full bands with horns. Richard has also since then become the main mixing engineer for producer DeShawn "Big D" Hendrickson and his roster of artists under D'NAJE Entertainment.
Outside of the studio, Richard provides Audio Engineering services for many large-scale corporate events, has toured with Dane Cook, and continues to mix many lives shows for Portuguese, and Rock bands.
Eddie has always had a love and passion for all things music. From a young age he began playing instruments (piano and drums) and has always had an eclectic taste in music; being influenced by many of his parents' selections and branching out to find new music on his own. Eddie wanted to follow in the footsteps of his cousins Kevin Antunes (Musical Director for Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson's Immortal Tour amongst many others) and Mikey Monteiro (Musical programmer and producer for Jamie Foxx, Jesse J, Abstrakt Entertainment and many more).
Eddie moved to Orlando to pursue a degree in Recording Arts from Full Sail University. After graduation, he moved back to New Bedford and began working with local artists at Studio81, as well as working as a traveling audio engineer for various music tours including Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, and Jay-Z. Taking his experience in the studio as well as on the road has allowed Eddie to add a certain dimension to his projects that not all engineers are able to obtain. Having seen the way major artists are developed and what makes their music unique, Eddie is able to offer clients a certain flair and guidance to help take their music to the next level.
Eddie currently has a roster of many talented and promising artists who he works with locally including Beyond Muzik, Abstrakt Entertainment, Youth Ambassador Program (YAP) and Rachel Perry. Since working with owner and chief engineer Richard at Studio81, Eddie's skills continue to improve and evolve making sure he is constantly learning and discovering new methods and ways to make a complete and professional sounding recording for every artist that he works with.
DeShawn "Big D" Hendrickson is a young talented musician/songwriter/producer. His developing musical resume includes producing songs for major artists such as Keyshia Cole, Blu Cantrell, and a number of independent artists and projects.
Born on the beautiful island of St. Thomas, U.S Virgin Islands, DeShawn comes from a musical family, with a very diverse musical background. He graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2005 with honors while doing a dual degree in Music Business/Management and Music Production & Engineering. He spent the next 2 years developing his sound, and in 2007, launched D'NAJE Entertainment, a small independent production company. Shortly after, he connected with Richard Raposo and the two quickly developed a solid working chemistry.
Currently, DeShawn is busier than ever, in and out of the studio constructing and developing his own team of talented artist and songwriters. He credits his beautiful wife and business partner, Taisha, for being there through the process, and for pushing him to the limits. She works closely with him to promote and market D'NAJE and everything affiliated with D'NAJE Entertainment.
Outside of music and being in the studio, DeShawn enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports, and traveling. Keeping God first plus humility definitely equals success and DeShawn "Big D" Hendrickson is a walking, talking witness of that.
